“If you're really listening, if you're awake to the poignant beauty of the world, your heart breaks regularly. In fact, your heart is made to break; its purpose is to burst open again and again so that it can hold evermore wonders.”
― Andrew Harvey
Welcome to day 18! Today we are opening our hearts to vulnerability and getting in touch with the pain of the world.
Self-Love is not just about happy faces and positive quotes. It's also about getting real and raw about the world we live in and the situations that break our heart. But rather than falling into despair, this is our opportunity to transform suffering into healing. As Rumi says, the wound is the place where the light enters.
Here's today's SLP:
Ask yourself this question: What breaks my heart? Is it world hunger, sexual abuse, environmental crisis? There may be many different things that break your heart but, for the purpose of this practice, choose one. What touches you more deeply? Allow yourself to feel that pain. Cry your heart out if you need to! And as you open up to this truth, commit to taking a simple step in the next 24 hours to bring more love into this situation. Perhaps it's making a donation to a cause you believe in. Or volunteering at a local organization. Or raising awareness around a sensitive topic within your community. Remember: you are a messenger of love, and you're here to speak the truth, especially when it's painful or uncomfortable. Stop hiding your tears: the world needs your heartbreak.
